| About Cancer | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
All NIU employees who have any experience with cancer are invited to join this listserv. Employees with breast cancer may want to join the Breast Cancer listserv support group (see Employee Assistance Program Support Groups webpage) The purpose of the listserv is to have a place where you can exchange information and support each other. Research on dealing with stressful times suggests that sharing your experiences helps you feel you are not alone and increases your ability to cope. As you finish with treatment, it a place to help others and share how you are doing now. This gives others hope and provides information about the challenges you face post treatment. In addition to communicating on the listserv, there will be opportunities to meet face-to-face. For more information on coping, see the Employee Assistance Program Webpage “Coping with…” series. To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the Cancer Archives. (The current archive is only available to the list members.) |
